These dual cartidge Assembly Adhesives are based on Pro-Set 175 Epoxy Resin which is paired with either Fast (273), Medium (275) or Slow (277) hardener. They are suitable for most composite bonding applications.
Both the resins and hardeners of these Assembly Adhesives are thixotropic gels. The mixture fills gaps and will not sag on vertical surfaces. The epoxy wets out the substrate, making priming or pre-wetting unnecessary on most surfaces, while ensuring a good bond.
These pre-thickened, high performance adhesives are for use in the secondary* bonding of laminated composites as well as steel, aluminum, cast iron, concrete, stone, and most wood species. Pro-Set Adhesives will bond these materials to themselves, as well as to each other in any combination.
Depending on the adhesive selected, at 72°F working time can vary from 20 minutes to 150 minutes.
Coverage — one cartridge set dispenses approximately 47 ft of 1/4" bead, or 17 ft of 1/2" bead and will cover approximately 7 sq ft when spread with a 1/8" x 1/8" notched spreader, or 12 sq ft with a 1/16" x 1/16" notched spreader.
Shelf life is approximately 18 months. Store at room temperature.
Of special note, the Pro-Set ADV-175/276 and ADV-176/276 SuperToughened Adhesive delivers toughness and superior peel strength for heavily loaded applications and difficult-to-bond substrates including pre-preg, SMC, metals and most plastics.
All Pro-Set Assembly Adhesives are packaged in 15.2 oz dual cartridges, pails, or drums, and are available in Black (BK), "Natural" epoxy light amber (NC), or Quality Control Green (QC), and are competitively priced.
NOTE - Although each dual cartridge comes with a special mixing tube to combine the resin and hardener during the dispensing process, you will almost certainly need more than one tip - as the mixed epoxy can harden if left in the tip too long. Extra tips will certainly be needed if you only use part of the cartridge and want to use the rest later. See Accessoy Products, below.
The Technical data sheets for these assembly adhesives in the links below provide valuable information about applying these adhesives, including pot life, working temperatures, physical properties, etc.
* Secondary bonding relies on the mechanical linking of an adhesive to a material or cured epoxy surface. The applied adhesive must "key" into pores or scratches in the surface -- a microscopic version of a dovetail joint. Proper surface preparation provides a texture that will help lock the cured epoxy to the surface.
